10 Motivational Books Every Female Blogger Should to Read

If you follow my Instagram, you know I read a lot of books #whatimreading 😉

I thought it might be a good idea for me to share the books that were most helpful and influential to me in my journey into being a full-time blogger. To give you reference, I rarely finish a book. I get super excited about a book, and then dive in…and then…one of two things happen. I either love it and finish it within a day (like #GIRLBOSS) or get bored and add it to my bookshelf without ever finishing.

I am happy to report that the 10 books included in this post, are books that I have completely finished and continue to use as a reference year after year.

If you are a brand new blogger, I would absolutely recommend starting off with Ruth Sukoup’s “How to Blog: Without Selling your Soul“. This book is a great reference for all things blogging, social media & monetization. I took Ruth’s Elite Blogging Academy at a price tag of $300 only to find out that almost ALL of what she taught in the class was exactly what was in the book. Save yourself some money and buy this book instead of the course!

This book is a few years old, but Personality Not Included is soooo full of great information about how great companies allow their personalities to come forward. In the world of blogging, your unique personality and perspective is what sets you apart from other bloggers, so learning how to harness your innate personality is the key to your success. This book gives you the confidence and the tools to use your personality in your writing.

Say Goodbye to Survival Mode was written by full time blogger Crystal Paine and gives some prime examples and tips on how to balance everything…and I mean everything. From parenting, to chores to marriage and self-care, it’s all covered in this easy to read book. This book was inspiring to me, because I sometimes feel like my life is so full of chaos that it cannot be contained, but the truth can..and this book has helped me put systems in place that has made my home life much smoother! This book is the exact reason, why I get up at 5:30am in the morning!

I read #GIRLBOSS in less than a day…it was THAT good! If you want to read a true story about how some misfit kid started an ebay business from her living room and turned it into a multi-million dollar brand, then this is the book for you! It’s all about female empowerment and what was most interesting is that she didn’t set out to start this huge brand..which means that she had to learn a lot about business very quickly. I related to this book because in a sense, regardless of how successful we are, there is always something to learn and sometimes we need to ‘fake it til you make it’ just to get by.

This book is a must read if you need a boost of confidence! You are a Badass by Jen Sincero was the latest book that I absolutely gobbled up in a matter of days! I needed this book at this point in my life. As a blogger and mom, I doubt myself all the time. (no really…all the time) and I understand that doubt is a self-imposed prison I put on myself. No doubt. This book was all about believing and living in a manner that aligns with ‘the universe’. Things like meditation and the power of positive thinking can have an impact on the things that happen to you. Your life is no coincidence, whatever you put out into the universe comes back to you!

The Secret Thoughts of Successful Women, shines a light on the  little known condition known as the Imposter Syndrome. This syndrome affects a lot of successful women…it’s essentially the feeling like you are a fraud or undeserving of the successes you have achieved. This book exposes the truth behind this syndrome and chronicles different research studies that prove it affects many entrepreneurs. The book also gives you solid tips on how to overcome the Imposter Syndrome and how to become your best self.

The War of Art: Break though the blocks and Win your Inner Creative Battles: came highly recommended to me by several professional writers..and I’d have to agree that it is a great asset to helping you get unstuck. I’ll be the first to admit, I am my own worst enemy. This book has some valid strategies for getting over the negative self-talk or false aspirations in your mind and get you on a clear path to being creative.

If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you know that I am motivated by money always have, always I am fascinated by “millionaire books” and I’ve read a lot of them. The Millionaire Fastlane spoke to me like no other book did which is why I recommend it to you. The book essentially challenges you to break out of the mold of what you are conditioned to do which is to go to school, get good grades, go to college, get a stable job and live an average life. Boring! Instead the book shows you how to break out of the routine and reach for goals in an unconventional way, the millionaire fastlane.

Ask is a MUST-READ if you have any plans to do email marketing, I highly encourage you to get this book, RIGHT NOW! It offers up the psychology behind why people open and respond to emails, as well as giving you a proven effective strategy email delivery sales funnel! After reading this book, I completely changed the way I send out emails and it has lead to an increase in subscribers & retention rate.

tribesTribes by Seth Godin is several years old, however I have not found a book that so succinctly dissects the ‘tribe mentality’ or why having a tribe is good for us. As a blogger, you will inevitably become a tribe leader of sorts, and knowing the psychology for leading a tribe can greatly impact your success. This book gives you the tools that you need to lead your tribe.

These all look like great books! Do you have a recommendation on which one to read first? With a 3.5 month old and trying to boost my blogging again I don’t have a lot of time I set aside for reading, so I’d like to try to read one or two but would like to know what you’d recommend to read first and second. I was thinking the #Girlboss one and the one that you took the blogging course for. Would you agree?
