Where are all of my tattooed soul sisters? It’s our day to let our freak flag fly y’all..and talk about the story behind our tattoos on Instagram! Now I’m the first to admit that all of my tattoos do not have some deep meaning or story to them, however, there a few that do:

My Mom Tattoo Chest Piece:

I got this tattoo when I was living in Hawaii in 2007. I got it right after the birth of my daughter. I figured I was done having babies and wanted to get a tattoo to commemorate my two little munchkins. My friend Roy, who was just a shop boy at Hart & Huntington Tattoo company drew this up for me and then I took it over to my tattoo artist, Billy at 808 Tattoo.

The tattoo is of a heart with a keyhole in the middle. The keyhole represents the letter “o” in the word Mom. The heart also has two keys on either side and each key has a representation of my two children on either side (a somewhat morbid representation, I’m willing to admit). Regardless, out of all of the tattoos I have gotten since then, this one still remains one of my favorite and definitely the most meaningful.
