This was fantastic! Thank you so much!! If you’ll excuse me, I’m off to go join group boards now!
Haha! Yay! Good luck
Chrystie, this was by far the most informative webinar I’ve seen in a while! Thank you for sharing this information. I have had a green living business with blog since November 2013 and am so frustrated with my inability to generate any real income or following from it (lack of time, too many scattered efforts). I’ve put a lot of energy into Twitter and now Instagram, but couldn’t figure out how to work with Pinterest. These actionable steps give me just the formula I need to grow my followers, subscribers, and (hopefully) sell a lot more books with the next book launch, happening late this week (fingers crossed). So glad I came across this webinar. Am putting this advice to work today! The info on group boards was especially helpful-thanks again!! Looking forward to reading more of your posts and pins…
Kelly..I think you are going to have a lot of luck with Pinterest. The Green Living business is a great niche for Pinterest. Good luck!
Red instead of blues explains why when I designed a blue/purple overlay for my Pinterest images and my traffic from Pinterest PLUMMETED even though I thought it was so pretty! Ever since I switched it back to a brighter overlay, the traffic is back to normal! Whew!
That was so incredibly helpful, thank you! Will this link be up for awhile? I would love to share it with other bloggers :).
Thank you Samantha! The replay will be up until Sunday night (9/25)!
Great webinar Chrystie! Other than Ad Thirve what analytics tools do you use?
I use Google Analytics for most of my reporting!
Chrystie, thanks so much for this video, it was extremely informative. I am a BRAND NEW mommy blogger (only have written 2 blog posts, neither of which have been published yet). I have been to a crazy amount of research to help me start it off the best way I can and this video really helped.
I do have a question though.
On the affiliate links, do you have to request to become an affiliate or how exactly does that work say for Amazon?
Thanks so much again!
That’s a great question! Yes you have to apply to become an affiliate. So for Amazon you would apply here: https://affiliate-program.amazon.com/welcome
However, as a new blogger, you might want to try something a little more simple like using Viglink. This company allows you to become a sub-affiliate of them, which means you don’t have to apply to each individual retailer’s program individually. You can learn a little more about it here: http://www.livingfornaptime.com/monetization/the-easiest-way-for-a-new-blogger-to-monetize-a-website/
Thank you so much for this fantastic webinar! It is the most helpful one I have watched recently so I agree with the person who made that same comment above!! You rock and I find your advice SO helpful! My question is do you make multiple pins with different images for the same blog post and is this in any way helpful? Do you find this increases traffic to the blog post if you have done it? So, if you hate an old pin you made while you were clueless and you delete it to make a better vertical eye pleasing pin, what happens to the pins of that ugly pin that others have pinned? So, ie. is it better to leave ugly horizontal tiny pins in place with just a few re-pins or should they be deleted because they reduce the quality of the board?
Hi Julie! Thank you for the compliment!
As far as creating multiple pins per blog post, I have tired it in the past….but have not found it to be beneficial as of yet.
Now..as far as underperforming & horizontal pins, I have gone in and redone several pins that I felt were underperforming and have seen improvements from doing that. I would absolutely re-do any horizontal pins that you might have to give them a proper chance in the Pinterest feed
When you use BoardBooster do you only send your own pins to the group boards? Or pins that aren’t yours as well.
You Rock!! I have been in the process of blogging for about 6 months & haven’t found anyone that is willing to give up concrete info. I wanted to know if you do use a horizontal pic at the beginning of your post like you said, is it just for the sake of the post? Then you only pin & promote the vertical image that you used at the end? Thanks for taking the time out to make this video.
I felt like I had a good idea of the ins and outs of Pinterest for bloggers at this point. but I have to say that this webinar was incredibly helpful to me. The thing that surprised me most to learn was the statistic about pinning images without faces. I never would have known that! I feel so much more confident having listened to all of this advice in a sequential manner, and I am excited to get to work on increasing my traffic!
So many thanks for this video! I’m starting off and feel like I know nothing about blogging! This information is going to help me out so much!
Awesome!
Excellent presentation! Great tips! I’m looking forward to a Q&A follow up. Thanks so much for sharing this information!
Thank you for tuning in!
Chrystie, As usual this was amazing!! I have two questions (so far lol):
1. When doing a round up - where do you take your images from? I read you “$7,000 mistake” post and am completely paranoid about using an image that I should! For example, I am looking to do a first birthday gift ideas post and want to include images of the products.
2. I am still pretty new to the blogging world and am trying to write write write on my blog but I have a limited number of posts available. Do you need a vast pool for boardbooster to be the most effective or would you recommend it even in the building up content phase?
Thank you so much! **I always want to note that I initially stumbled upon your page on pinterest and I feel like it’s one of the best things that has happened to me with blogging, so double thanks to you!**
Amie

Aww Amie! I love hearing that…thank you
Happy to help you on this blogging journey!
As far as images, if you are an affiliate of a company, you usually have the ability to use images from their site that you are promoting. I’ve never heard of anyone being penalized for using product shots.
Re: Boardbooster. It will certainly help if you do have a lot of blog posts, however, even if you don’t it will give you consistency in posting/looping which is also important!
ok I am back with a third question (sorry!) - any thoughts on Photoshop Elements for round ups or in general? Thanks!
You know..I have never used Photoshop Elements…so I can’t say one way or the other
Ahhhh!!! Love this!!!! I needed to hear this! Thank you for the help! I am going to completely rebrand my entire blog based off of what you said in this tutorial. Quick question about round up….how do you create them? Is it on photoshop or is there a tutorial you’d recommend? Thank you again!
Yes I use Photoshop and definitely recommend it. However, you could also make one in Canva as well!
Hi Chrystie,
Just had a chance to watch this webinar - which was extremely helpful, by the way. I love your site and all the helpful information you share. My question is about BoardBooster. I’ve heard rumors that this program is not Pinterest approved, so accounts might be penalized in the future for using it. Is this true? Also, how does BoardBooster compare to Tailwind, which is approved by Pinterest (also a rumor I heard)? I am new to all of this, so I’m not sure if what I’ve heard is accurate. I just want to make sure I’m going about things the right way. Thank you!!!
Thanks for this information. It is awesome. I learned things that I am doing wrong. I’m so excited! I know this sounds crazy but I love to learn new things and try new things to see what works.
Thanks again.
Wow-this was so, so great! I love being a Pinterest user but have been totally clueless about how to use it to promote my blog. Thanks so much for this great info! No more horizontal pins for me! : )
And, I have melasma; I’ll be checking out your info. It’s never gone away completely and I’m always looking for ways to cover. I’ve had it for about 13 years.
Alright I am totally back with yet another question!!! My blog is a general parenting with advice on development and lots and lots of “interest” pieces about everyday parenting. Do you pin those ones? It seems like pinterest is more about “7 activities for toddlers when your stuck indoors” - thoughts? Thank you!
Huh, totally thought I commented on this already, but apparently it didn’t work!
Found this so helpful! Thank you! I did have a question, though… do you feel that the text overlay applies to fashion bloggers? The only pins of fashion bloggers I admire that have text overlay have been beauty blog posts (like hair or make up tutorials, etc). Do you feel like this may be an exception? Would love to know your thoughts!
Also, that stat about the reds/pinks vs blues was astounding!!!
