Will Work for FREE Nail Polish: How to Promote Subscription Boxes on your Blog & Get Free Stuff

It’s no secret that I absolutely love subscription boxes, Julep, Birchbox, PopSugar MustHave, Ipsy..I love them all! But mostly, I love getting them for FREE or cheap and I do this by promoting them on my blog at BoxMom.com. Most subscription boxes have an affiliate or referral program that you can take advantage of and in return earn free products or money from recommending them on your blog.

The best part about subscription boxes is that there is one for every niche! Whether you blog about kids, food, beauty or fitness, there is a subscription that will suit you and your audience. (P.S. Check out this list of subscription boxes, crazy right?)

Now, some bloggers shy away from this because let’s be honest, nail polish doesn’t pay the bills. BUT I firmly believe that if I get something for FREE it’s like saving money, which is a win in my book! Plus, I absolutely love these boxes! :)

Here’s a rundown of some of my favorite referral programs: Yes, I’m using my referral codes 😉

Julep - Get $15 credit for each friend you refer. Or you can sign up for their affiliate program through Share Sale & earn $7 per box!

StitchFix - Get $25 in credit when your friend’s box ships

Ipsy - Get 250 points for each friend your refer (Use points in the Ipsy store)

Birchbox - Get 50 Points for every friend you refer (100 points gets you $10 in the Birchbox store)

PopSugar Must Have box - Get 3 Friends to Sign up & Get a Free Box!

How to Promote Subscription Boxes on your Blog:

1. Find a subscription box that you are interested in and fits your audience. Head over to MySubscriptionAddiction and take a look through all of her box reviews and find a couple that you are interested in.

2. Sign up to receive a box. Yes, you will have to pay for your box, but if done correctly, it may be the last time you pay for it! From their you’ll likely receive a referral code in your account.

3. Use your referral code. Any time you mention the box, you can use your referral code to link to the product, it can be used on social media and your blog.

4. Get Free Stuff. Once someone signs up under your referral link, you’ll likely get an email from the company letting you know that someone signed up and that you’ve got credit!

P.S. If you want some tips on how to properly promote items on your blog, check out this post I wrote earlier in the week.

  1. I love this!! I’ve always wanted to try one of the beauty boxes and it’s a win win if you get it for free! Thanks for the awesome tips!!

  2. Thanks for the advice. I definitely agaree - nail polish doesn’t pay the bills, but who wants to turn down free stuff?

  3. I love sharing subscription boxes on my blog. And while the free stuff might not pay the bills, my subscription box posts are usually my most popular and bring in the most traffic - so there’s that extra benefit to consider too!

  4. Thanks for the list! I love all of the geek subscription boxes, I just wish you could narrow down your genre a little when you subscribe! 😉 The day that happens, I’m coming back to your tips, for sure!

  5. I seriously had no idea these subscriptions had so many perks! I can’t wait to try them out!

  6. Subscription boxes are one of my favorites to review too! I love when someone reaches out to me and offers me a free box for review.

I did Julep for a long time, but they don’t seem to put out much new in the nail polish department so I stopped. Ipsy and Birchbox got repetative after a while too-though if I could afford to I’d totally do Ipsy again. LootCrate did too after a few months.

My favorites lately are PetGiftBox (I’m a new doggy mom-and they’ve been so fantastic to work with, very sweet) and Mary’s Secret Ingredients.

I really want to try the Popsugar one someday, it’s just expensive! lol
