Monetize your blog easily with just one WordPress plugin!
Monetizing a blog can be overwhelming…I get it!
There are so many platforms, and companies, and products to promote. Ugh. Where to start?
If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, then you know that I absolutely love talking about money, specifically how to make money with your blog. My feeling is that if you are writing…then you should be getting paid for it. Right?
Let me introduce you to Viglink, which is the platform I tell all newbie bloggers to start with. Viglink turns anything you link to into a money making opportunity…(if there is one!)

So for example, let’s say that you are doing a blog post about a new baby onesie from Gymboree. You can link to the Gymboree onesie page (Like I just did!) and if anyone buys the onesie, you make a commission! This is called affiliate marketing. Affiliate marketing is when you earn money for recommending products and someone purchases that item using your link.
The frustrating thing about affiliate marketing is that there are dozens of different companies. So for example, if you wanted to promote products from Amazon, Walmart, Target & Ebay. You’d have to join 4 different programs to do so. BUT, Viglink has established relationships with over 30,000 brands and retailers, so you can just use a Viglink link and be on your way to earning money.

How Viglink works:
1. Head over here to sign up for an account
2. Download the Viglink WordPress Plugin or put one line of code in your website (Currently Viglink only works with Self-hosted WordPress blogs)
3. Start linking to products around the web
4. Viglink automatically monetizes the link. (If they have a relationship with the company) They keep 25%, you get 75%
5. Get a monthly paycheck via Paypal
Yes, it’s really that easy! Plus, if you get your blogging friends to join Viglink, you’ll earn a 35% commission! This post does contain my affiliate link and yes, I will make a commission if you sign up through my link. Disclosure is very important (it’s the law!) when it comes to affiliate marketing, so you definitely want to let your audience know that you *may* make a commission if they purchase from your link. In my experience, your readers are happy to use your links, because they love and support you!

wish they had this for blogger!!

I haven’t heard of this one but it sounds great! I’ll have to look more into it. Thanks for sharing!
I’ve never heard of this company! Good to know about.
Signed up — thanks for the advice!
This is awesome! Definitely way more convenient than collecting links from 5 places to put in one blog post.
I didn’t start blogging to make money, but every time I hear or read about bloggers making dough (esp in super duper easy ways like this!), I’m tempted to jump on the bandwagon. Thank you so much for sharing your expertise!
aaaand another reason to push me over to wordpress.
This sounds convenient!
Great recommendation!!! I love that plugin also!
Thank you so much for sharing this! It never hurts to earn some extra coins.

Wow! I’ve never heard of this plugin! Super helpful!
AMAZING!!! I’ve had monetizing on my to do list for awhile, but it has been so overwhelming that I haven’t even started. I am DEFINITELY checking out this plugin tomorrow. Thank you for sharing!
An easy way to monetize your content 😀 I used Viglink before, good company and easy install for their service!
Awesome tip! Thanks so much!
This is a good idea. I do web design and am always on the lookout for info like this to pass on. I do wonder if these ads have an effect on site performance? I was noticing that this site loads pretty slowly and despite my fast connection pages are loading so I can’t read the article at a normal pace. Is there a way to choose less advertising scripts as to keep a last page load time?
Wow this sounds so easy! I’ll have to try it out at some point!
It’s the EASIEST! Great way to get started with affiliate marketing
For Viglink… do you have this on WordPress.com or .org?
It’s for the self-hosted WordPress.org blogs
Thank you! I need all the easy monetization tips I can get! Thanks for showing something simple!
Yup! Important to start simply & easily
Thanks for the information! I’m getting signed up now.
I had no idea! Signing up now!
Hi Chrystie,
As soon as I saw the words monetise and easily put together, I just had to click through.
I will be signing up very soon to evaluate this offering.

Stephen
Hi Chrystie! This is super - I’ve never heard of it! Thanks for sharing this great tip! I just signed up…but I can’t find the tag they say to insert the link before. Is it in the main Index.php file? Thanks!
Hi newbie blogger here ! (like since September). Would this work if I don’t live in the USA?
Hi there! Just wondering, do you recommend ONLY using Viglink? Or can you also do others? For example, would you get paid more to be an Amazon affiliate as opposed to linking to Amazon through Viglink? Others I’ve seen are Shareasale… Just curious what the etiquette is with being a part of affiliate programs!
Thanks!
Chelsea
I love the idea of this, but is it bad I would rather sign up for the separate accounts just because they’re free? I’ll do the hard work if it means I don’t have to pay someone to do it for me.
Thank you!! I didn’t even know this plug-in existed up until now! Will sign up immediately and hope it works
Thank you for the tip! I just downloaded this plugin and am going to try it out. Have a great day!
Hi! I am not sure, because I don’t use Squarespace, but I think they have their own hosting too, so you wouldn’t use Hostgator.
